ELDORADO, IL (KFVS) - A groundbreaking was held Tuesday for a new rural health clinic in Eldorado.
The clinic will serve Ferrell Hospital in southern Illinois.
The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity provided more than $580,000 in federal funding to the City of Eldorado to build, furnish and equip the new clinic.
The Community Development Assistance Program will support a $200,000 private investment by Ferrell Hospital for the construction of a 6,000-square-foot rural health clinic adjacent to the hospital. The facility will served as a walk-in clinic that will consolidate three offices in Eldorado.
The close proximity of the hospital will also make doctors more accessible to patients, especially those who may be economically underserved or those who have transportation issues.
