MAKANDA, IL (KFVS) - A southern Illinois town played host to some feathery creatures this weekend.
Every fall the village sees hundreds of black and turkey vultures that flock to the town's surrounding trees and cliffs.
To celebrate the autumn event, Makanda, Illinois holds an annual vulture vest on the third weekend in October.
In honor of those seasonal visitors, the town hosts an annual vulture fest.
This year's celebration marks the 12th year for the event.
And during the two-day festival people from all across southern Illinois can enjoy a wide variety of activities, sights and sounds.
