WHEATON, Ill. (AP) - A 6-year prison sentence has been handed a 90-year-old suburban Chicago man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two boys.
Chester A. Stabrowski of Roselle was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sex assault for engaging in sex acts with the boys during a pool party in 2007, when both boys were under 13.
Stabrowski was to go to trial next week in DuPage County Circuit Court, but entered a guilty plea to one count of predatory criminal sex assault of a child.
Authorities say Stabrowski befriended the youths through his volunteer work at St. Walter Catholic Church in Roselle and invited them to a pool party at his house, where the assaults took place.
Stabrowski must serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
