Bomb squad removes explosive device from Malden home

MALDEN, MO (KFVS) - A Malden juvenile was taken into custody Thursday after the bomb squad removed an explosive device from his home.

According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, it happened Thursday on West Dorothy Drive east of Malden.

Holder says a resident called police on Thursday and said his son had made a homemade explosive device and it was in the home.

The Southeast Missouri Bomb Squad out of Sikeston as well as Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agents were called to the scene, said Holder.

A member of the bomb squad went inside the home and removed the explosive devise. Holder says it was disposed of in a remote area on the Malden Airport property.

The juvenile was taken into custody by the Dunklin County Juvenile Office.
