Loughner returned to Missouri to resume treatment

PHOENIX (AP) - The suspect in the Tucson shooting rampage is back in a Missouri prison facility where he'll undergo more psychological treatment in an effort to make him mentally fit for trial.

Chris DeRosa, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service, says Jared Lee Loughner was flown Wednesday from Tucson to the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Mo.

Loughner was brought to Arizona from Missouri on Sept. 26 for a court hearing. A judge ordered Loughner's four-month stay in Springfield to be extended by another four months, but he stayed in Tucson while defense attorneys filed appeals to try to keep him in Arizona.

Loughner has pleaded not guilty to 49 charges stemming from the Jan. 8 shooting that killed six people and injured 13, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
