PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center Corporation (CCC) board of directors met Thursday to discuss how to recover missing funds.

John Patrick Kerr, the Executive Director at the Julian Carroll Convention Center, was arrested late Sunday night for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from the city.  Paducah Police say Kerr admitted to working with Susan Wilson to steal as much as $200,000 from the convention center.  Kerr told police it went on over the past 10 months. Kerr was removed from his position.

The Board says they plan to take the following steps to recover the missing money:

  • The CCC will contact the Ky. State Auditor's office and request that the auditor review all records and board governance procedures.
  • They will reach out to city and county partners to conduct a review of the facts and circumstances surrounding the missing money and recommend recovery efforts.
  • They will meet for a special meeting on Monday, Oct. 17 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss management of all of the properties in the future.

The CCC says Kerr violated the city's zero tolerance policy in February 2011, and terminated his employment. After producing records and an explanation backing his claims, the board reinstated Kerr's employment at the time though an employment agency.
