Fire investigation at former Homestown city hall

HOMESTOWN, MO (KFVS) - Pemiscot County deputies are investigating a fire at the former Homestown City Hall.

It happened Tuesday afternoon.

The Wardell Fire Department was called after 5 p.m. Tuesday and found heave fire at the back of the building when they arrived.

A portable building is now used as the city hall and council chambers were sitting adjacent to the former city hall.  It received a moderate amount of damage on the outside.

It is unclear how the fire started.  Fire crews and investigators stayed on scene until 10:30 p.m.

The Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department and investigators with the Missouri State Fire Marshals Office are investigating.
