I-24 in McCracken County reopened after deadly crash

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

According to a Paducah Police news release, a man was killed when the car he was driving crossed the median and hit a tractor-trailer Monday afternoon.

Police had to close Interstate 24 between US 45 (Lone Oak Road) and US 62 (Alben Barkley Drive) for more than three hours because of the crash.

Robert L. Partin, 21, of McCracken County, crossed the median and hit a tractor-trailer around 4:40 p.m. Monday.

Police say witnesses told them the impact caused Partin's 1995 Chevy Camaro to split in two, with the rear of the car landing in the median and front in the roadway. The truck came to rest in the median just before it entered the eastbound lanes.

According to Paducah Police, the driver of the truck, 63-yearol Marion Witt, and his passenger were not injured.

Partin was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck is owned by Old Dominion Trucking of Thomasville, NC.

The outside westbound lane of Interstate 24 was opened to traffic just after 7 p.m. The remaining westbound lane and both eastbound lanes were opened at 7:56 p.m.
