CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Habitat for Humanity celebrated the groundbreaking of their 47th home Sunday on South Ellis in Cape Girardeau.
The new home owner, Koreena Woodson and her children are excited as they prepare for a new life in their new home.
"It's just better than renting," said Woodson. "It will be ours for not just today or tomorrow, but as they (the children) grow up. Even when I'm gone, they will still have some place they can call home."
Woodson says the support she has gotten lately is special.
"The support is phenomenal," she said. "I have had so many people come out to support me and the kids starting this process. So, I'm just ready to get started completely, I suppose."
Homeowners work 250 volunteer hours as part of the requirements to get the house for 20 years interest free.
