Public hearing on closure of Chester Mental Health Center

CHESTER, IL (KFVS) -

Plans are underway for a public hearing about closing the Chester Mental Health Center (CMHC).

The hearing will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 inside Daniel Colbert Gymnasium at Chester High School in Chester, Illinois.

The time was set by the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (CGFA).

Students will be dismissed from school on Oct. 12 at regular time, 3:10 p.m.

Access to the parking lots behind the campus form Lee or Hoppe Drive won't be allowed until around 3:30 p.m. according to the school.

Babysitting by CHS support group LifeJackets is from 3-6 p.m.  Officials say kids will only be able to be picked up by those specified by the person dropping them off.

Gov. Quinn has announced the closure, along with 6 others as a cost cutting measure to the state.

The Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (CGFA) will be at the Davis McCann Center October 12 at 10 a.m. to discuss the closure of the Illinois Youth Center at Murphysboro.
