Does it Work Wednesday: Clean Step Mat

CHAFFEE, MO (KFVS) -

Busy mom Kristina Hahn hopes the Clean Step Mat wipes her housecleaning troubles away.

"We have a trampoline in back so they go in and out. I constantly have dirt on my floors, and I don't like it."

We get extra dirty for this test, even making our own mud in the yard and tracking it on our shoes.  First, we stepped on a regular carpet mat for comparison.  There was plenty of mud tracked onto the floor and the paper we used to test, just like the commercial shows.

Time to roll out the Clean Step Mat....and get muddy again.

We step on the mat with our extra-muddy shoes, and believe it or not, when we step onto the paper next to the mat, there is hardly any mud tracked onto it. It appears the mat did absorb the mud "like magic" as it claims!  We did this several times, and still found the Clean Step mat absorbed quite well.

Still, you have to factor in clever marketing, the paper might absorb some of this, too.

"I was surprised. It didn't take off clumpy mud, but it absorbed the wet stuff really well."

The mat itself is also pretty small. It's just about 2 by 3 feet.

"I wouldn't use in my foyer, but I would put it in the laundry room. It's not stylish."

It might not be attractive, but because of that, perhaps, it does hide dirt better than our creme-colored rug. You'll also pay for it, too....one small rug sets you back twenty bucks. That adds up in our final total.

"I'd give it a 'B'."

I agree. It's close to a clean sweep for the Clean Step Mat. It leaves behind a good grade 'B' on this Does it Work test.  You can find it at Walmart.

Blue Apron claims “food is better when you start from scratch.” The subscription meal service promises to deliver everything you need to make three meals right to your doorstep, but does it work, and does the company deliver on fresh flavorful food?
