High speed chase ends in mangled crash

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Police are investigating a car vs. semi crash that happened at a rest area off of Interstate 55 near the 110 mile marker early Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the crash happened after a high speed chase through Perry County Missouri and Cape Girardeau County.

An on-duty trooper tried to pull over a car in Perry County near Biehle for speeding.

Highway Patrol tells Heartland News that the driver of the Buick LaSabre, 36-year-old LaShawn Good of East St. Louis would not pull over and accelerated the vehicle.

The chase with the trooper continued on I-55 until Good smashed the car into a parked semi-trailer at the rest area near the 110 mile marker.

Good was ejected from the car and was later flown by Air Evac to Saint Francis Medical Center for treatment.

Good was wanted on a felony probation warrant out of Illinois.
