CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

A memorial ride was held Saturday for a fallen Carutherville officer's son.

The memorial ride started at 11 a.m. at Buckaroo's Bar and Grill. A chili supper and auction followed at the armory.

Organizers say all money raised will go to the officer's son Cade for a trust fund.

Evan Burns, 28, of Caruthersville was killed in the crash on Highway 84 about two miles northwest of town on Aug. 16.

Officers Evan Burns and Richard Altice stopped in separate police cars to set up spike strips to catch a stolen vehicle.

According to the sheriff the suspect hit Officer Altice's car, injuring the officer, and then rammed his Escalade broadside into Officer Burn's cruiser. The sheriff says the impact of the crash killed Officer Burns.
