MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah man is facing various charges including using his brothers I.D.

John D Suggs, 41, of Paducah was charged with tampering With physical evidence, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of open alcoholic Container, rear license plate non-illuminated.

New Charges from police include: theft of identity, giving police officer false name, operating on suspended license, license to be in possession.

Police say they were contacted by Percy Suggs who was listed as arrested on a prior release. Percy Suggs told officers that is was not him who we had in jail rather his brother John D Suggs. Percy Suggs said his brother has had a history of using his identity.

Investigators say John Suggs has now been charged with all original charges plus new ones.

Originally officers made a traffic stop on a 1999 Pontiac at the Super Way Gas Station at 8th and Park Ave. for a non-lighted license plate. The driver later identified by police as Suggs of Paducah came out of the car with an open beer bottle and started towards the store ignoring police to stop.

Suggs then sit the bottle down by the door and took off in the store. Police found  Suggs in the store and put him into custody. Deputies say  marijuana was found with the beer bottle he had put down. Suggs also had numerous sandwich baggies common with trafficking in narcotics, said deputies.

Mr. Suggs was arrested and taken to McCracken Regional Jail.
