SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

There was a strange crash Tuesday morning around 4:30 on Interstate 55 at the 87 mile marker in Scott County.

A dump truck was being used during nearby construction and police say the driver did not put the bed down before moving.

The raised bed slammed into the bridge over the interstate. This is the bridge that goes in and out of Kelso between County Road 207 and the east outer road (bridge over I-55).

The dump truck hit hard enough to rip the bed clean off the vehicle. Crews have the interstate cleaned up and the dump truck bed has been removed from the bridge.

The driver was not injured in this crash.

Route PP will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction while Missouri Department of Transportation crews assess and repair the damages to the bridge.

The repairs are estimated to take two to three weeks

Temporary signals will be in place. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
