Man pleads guilty to second degree murder

MCLEANSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

On the day his murder trial is set to start, a southern Illinois man admitted his guilt.

In court Monday, Randall McMahon pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the January 2011 shooting death of 24-year-old Adam Ritchey in McLeansboro.

The judge sentenced McMahon to 20 years on that count and an additional 12 years on a new charge of attempted murder.

Authorities say Ritchey was with McMahon's estranged wife when the shooting happened.
