Pedestrian hit, killed by car overnight

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Doniphan man is dead after being hit by a car early Sunday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Billy Barnett was southbound on Business 67 at Linwood Drive at 12:20 a.m. when his 2003 Pontiac struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

Butler County Coroner Jim Akers pronounced 26-year-old Jeffrey Harp of Doniphan dead at the scene.

Harp's body was taken to the Butler County Morgue. Funeral arrangements are pending.

No information is available as to what Harp was doing in the roadway at the time of the crash.

It is unclear whether Barnett will face any charges.
