One dead, two seriously injured in single vehicle crash

Two people are seriously hurt and one person is dead after a late afternoon crash.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Jamie Becker of Cadet, Missouri was driving Northbound on Highway 67 north of Cash Lane in St. Francois County a little before 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Highway Patrol reports that Becker changed lanes to the left and over-steered to the right causing the 2002 Hyundai Accent to travel off the roadway.  The vehicle then hit a rock bluff and flipped.

One of the passengers in the vehicle, 28-year-old Jeremy Proffer of DeSoto, Missouri died at the scene of the crash.

Becker and the second passenger, 28-year-old Alicia Mahan of Imperial, Missouri were both flown to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

According to the Highway Patrol report no one in the vehicle was wearing a safety device.
