MOREHOUSE, MO (KFVS) -

A town devastated by 2011 spring flooding, comes together to celebrate recovery.

Saturday evening, people in Morehouse were gathering to reflect and even rejoice.

They're thanking those who helped them get through unprecedented high waters in April that affected 80-percent of the town.

Organizers say the tragedy brought the community closer together.

"The church, and the people in this town have cried, they've been torn, they're hearts have been broken," said Randy Thomas, Pastor of the General Baptist Church. "Now we are getting back together, we hope to see smiles, rejoicing and happiness."

An anonymous donor funded tonight's catered meal and celebration.
