HAYTI HEIGHTS, MO (KFVS) -

Police say a Hayti Heights woman is facing child abuse and other charges stemming from a joint agencies investigation.

Annette Humes, 46, of Hayti Heights was charged with abuse of a child and armed criminal action, according to the Pemiscot Co. Sheriff's Office.

Police say they started an investigation on Tuesday afternoon after they were contacted by the Missouri Children's Division and Pemiscot County Juvenile authorities. Children services said that some physical abuse had taken place on Monday evening at a home in Hayti Heights.

According to investigators, a 10-year-old child received upper back injuries. Police say the injuries were not life threatening.

Humes was later questioned and put behind bars, pending formal charges by the prosecuting attorney's office, according to Sheriff Tommy Greenwell.

Police say bond was set at $100,000, and Humes is scheduled to go before Judge Byron Luber on September 22.
