A Paducah man is facing meth charges after police find an alleged meth lab early Saturday morning in his hotel room.

Scott D. Shirley, 52, of Paducah is charged with aggravated participation in the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Metropolis police say they went to the Super 8 Motel on 5th Street around 1:55 a.m. after smelling pungent odors from the room.

Officers found two 5-gallon buckets near the door. Shirley told police the buckets contained trash from an alleged meth cook. The buckets were filled with filters, a cook bottle and other trash, according to police.

Police say a just over 230-grams of suspected meth was recovered from one of the plastic buckets cook bottles. They said other items taken were smoking foils, used coffee filters containing meth residue, a metal pipe and rubber tubing.
