Burglaries reported at SEMO District Fair

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Thieves took advantage of the bad weather this week at the SEMO District Fair costing vendors merchandise and peace of mind.

Cape Girardeau Police are investigating a couple of burglaries that happened Wednesday night on the fairgrounds. That night it poured down rain, forcing the fairgrounds to close temporarily.

At one vendor's bunk room, police say personal items inside that trailer were taken.

Also, a local vendor from Advance tells Heartland News thieves took more than $2,000 worth of sunglasses and purses from her stand.

"I am very mad, and frustrated," said Patricia Britt. "I'm told I wasn't the only one that got taken."

Britt says she was able to get her most expensive merchandise out, and to safety before the storm hit and burglars allegedly struck.

No one was hurt in either incident, and no arrests have been made at this time.
