Trial date set for woman charged in deadly boating accident

VAN BUREN, MO (KFVS) -

A Poplar Bluff woman charged in a deadly boating accident will stand trial next Spring. Radeena Proffer's jury trial is set to start April 30.

She's charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. The trial will take place in Van Buren in Carter County on a change of venue.

It's all related to a boat collision on the Current River near Doniphan back in 2009. Investigators say Proffer crashed into another boat, killing two people and injuring three others.

Killed in the crash were 25-year-old Josh Burson and 11-year-old Jerry Mote, both of Poplar Bluff.

Police say Proffer had a blood alcohol content of 0.12.
