Operation Foster Pet helps deployed soldiers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

It's called Operation: Foster Pet.  It's a program designed to help soldiers care for their beloved animals while they are fighting for our freedom.

The mission, started by a local woman and the Humane Society, is aimed at placing pets in good foster homes so that their service man or woman can know their best friends are safe while they are deployed or in training.

It's already helping on young soldier from Jackson and his dog, a pair that might have otherwise ended up permanently separated.
