Two accused of passing counterfeit $20 bills

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) -

Police arrested two Massac County residents accused of passing counterfeit $20 bills.

Deborah D. Copley, 49, of rural Karnak is charged with two counts of forgery.

Frank E. Holzer, 48, of Metropolis, is charged with one count of forgery.

Metropolis Police say Copley walked into the Huck's Convenience Store at 102 West 10th Street Tuesday morning.

The manager told police a woman customer was in the store trying to pay for gas using a suspected counterfeit $20 bills.

The manager said it was the same customer who had allegedly passed a fake $20 in the store on April 15.

Copley was arrested inside the store.  Holzer was arrested outside the store at a vehicle parked at the gas pumps.

Copley told police that Holzer gave her the fake bills.

Police searched both Holzer's and Copley's homes and found several items of drug paraphernalia in Copley's home.

Copley and Holzer were taken to the county detention center.
