Malden teen arrested, accused of threatening faculty, students

MALDEN, MO (KFVS) -

A Malden teen was arrested after police say he threatened faculty and students.

Superintendent Kenneth Cook sent a letter home to parents explaining that a teacher noticed the 16-year-old male student writing in the notebook last Thursday and confiscated it.

Cook says information in the notebook led them to contact authorities.

According to police, officers searched the student's home and found more disturbing writings and two small explosive devices.

Cook credits that teacher with doing the right thing.

He says no weapons ever made it on campus and no student or teacher was ever in danger.

The teen was arrested and charges have been filed by the Dunklin County Juvenile Office.
