400 US flags put up in Cape County Park to remember 9/11 victims

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

400 US flags were put up in Cape County Park on Sunday to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Members of VFW Post 3838 and various Boy Scout troops put up the flags around 6:30 a.m. and will be taking them down around 5:30 p.m.

"In every part of Missouri on Sunday, people will stop and remember where they were ten years ago," said Gov. Jay Nixon. "It will be a time to honor those whose lives were lost on the world changing day, as well as a time to renew our resolve to safeguard our liberty and the many freedoms we enjoy as Americans."

All US and Missouri state flags were to be flown at half-staff to honor those who died in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.
