Jackson County couple plead guilty on plot to make meth

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A Grand Tower couple has pleaded guilty Friday in a plot to make meth.

According to US Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton, Eddie O. Allen, III, 33, and Samantha Johnson, 32, of Grand Tower pleaded guilty to a one-count third superseding indictment charging conspiracy to manufacture meth.

The attorney says due to Allen having a prior felony drug conviction, his offense carries a penalty of 20 years to life in prison, fine of up to $8,000,000 and 10 years supervised release.

Johnson's offense carries a penalty of 5-40 years in prison, a fine of up to $2,000,000 and 4 years supervised release.

Attorney's say the offense happened between 2009 and April 6, 2011 in Jackson, Union, Randolph and Williamson Counties.

Allen admitted to authorities he was responsible for the manufacture of more than 500 grams of meth, and sometimes possessed a gun while involved.

Johnson admitted she was responsible for more than 50 grams of meth.

Both are being held without bond pending there Jan. 6, 2012 sentencing hearing.

Attorney's say one co-defendant  has previously pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing, and 15 co-defendants have pleaded not-guilty and are awaiting an Oct. 31, 2011 jury trial.
