Williamson County murder trial starts opening statements

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Opening statements are underway in a Williamson County murder trial.

Travius Tucker, 21, is charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Jamel Davis last November in Herrin.

Investigators say Davis was shot and killed in an apartment on 9th Street.

Jury selection in Tucker's trial began Tuesday morning.

Tommy Hampton, Demetrius Moore and Torvelle Stanley also face charges.

Hampton is schedule for a pre-trial hearing on Monday.

Moore pleaded guilty to armed robbery in April. He's scheduled to be sentenced next week.

There are still motions being considered in the case against Stanley.
