SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A man from Chaffee is behind bars, charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

According to the Scott County Sheriff's Department, 31-year-old James Stewart was arrested after an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Southeast Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force as well as the sheriff's department and the Poplar Bluff Police Department.

Lieutenant Jerry Bledsoe said the investigation began earlier this year. According to Bledsoe, a task force investigator learned about child pornography being downloaded on the Internet and eventually traced it to a Chaffee address where Stewart was living.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found Stewart's computer with several videos depicting child pornography. He was arrested Thursday evening.

Steward faces 11 counts of possession of child pornography, a Class B felony. His bond has been set at $25,000 cash only. He remains in the Scott County Jail.
