2 injured, woman trapped after crash in Paducah

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Two people were injured as 1 was trapped following a crash early Saturday afternoon in Paducah.

It happened around 12:37 p.m. in the 5000 block of Benton Road.

According to the sheriff's office, the driver of the truck was going east, crossed the center line and went across the westbound lane of traffic. The truck then went into a ditch, hit a mailbox and a driveway culvert.

The driver, Julie Mcelwayne, 50, from Hickory received serious injuries, was trapped inside the truck and had to be cut out by fire crews.

She was taken by EMS crews to a church parking lot where an air ambulance was waiting to take her to an Evansville, Indiana hospital.

A 5-year-old passenger from Paducah received an injury and was taken to a Paducah hospital.

Deputies say traffic was stopped or reduced to one-lane for around an hour on Benton Road.
