WEST MEMPHIS, AR -

(WMC-TV) - The father of one of three boys murdered in 1993 is outraged over the deal that allowed the West Memphis Three to walk free Friday.

Saturday, Todd Moore, the father of victim James Michael Moore, released a statement detailing his anger over the deal.

"Justice has not been served in this case and while those men may be out of prison they will in fact never truly be free," Moore wrote in his statement.  "They will always have to live with the fact that they are still convicted child murderers in the eyes of the law and society."

In an e-mail to Action News 5, Moore expressed his gratitude to the people who supported his family over the past 18 years, "since our son was brutally murdered by those men known as the West Memphis Three."

Moore said he is pleased the convictions were upheld.

"They can say they are innocent all they want, but the fact remains that they themselves confirmed their guilt," he wrote.

Moore said his family is upset that they were not consulted about the fate of the West Memphis Three.

"August 19, 2011 is the second worst day in my life, but with faith, family, and friends, the Moore family will survive this as well."

Todd Moore's complete written statement:

The family of Michael Moore wishes to express gratitude to the countless people that have supported us through out these past 18 years, since our son was brutally murdered by those men known as the West Memphis three. We have supported these convictions from the beginning. We are pleased that those convictions were upheld and that those men confirmed that with their plea of guilty yesterday before the judge and the world.

They can say they are innocent all they want but the fact remains that they themselves confirmed their guilt.  We are very upset that they were released. We are also upset that we were not consulted and given a chance to decide for ourselves, as the victims parents, the fate of those who so brutally murdered our son.

Justice has not been served in this case and while those men may be out of prison they will in fact never truly be free. They will always have to live with the fact that they are still convicted child murderers in the eyes of the law and society.  With their suspended sentences for the next ten years, they can easily end up back in prison if they break the law and many will be watching and waiting.

It is important that everyone remember that this plea agreement was not sought by the prosecution but by the defense attorney's and convicts themselves.
Yesterday Aug. 19, 2011 is the second worse day in my life, but with faith, family and friends the Moore family will survive this as well.

Again thank you to everyone who continues to supported us.

Respectfully,
Todd Moore
Proud father of James Michael Moore
