Man charged in 2010 Cairo shooting gets 3 yrs. in prison

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

The man charged with shooting and killing a Mounds teen in July 2010 was sentenced Thursday to 3 years behind bars.

Melvin Hadley pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter, a class 3 felony, and was sentenced in court Thursday to 3-years in the Dept. of Corrections.

He originally was charged with second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Hadley entered into a plea-deal for lesser charges in July.

19-year-old Jeserick Pilgram of Mounds was killed in the shooting outside Mary J's Club on July 1, 2010.
