Traffic stop leads to arrest, drugs found in car

PORTAGEVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

Two women from Lilbourn are behind bars after a traffic stop.

According to the Portageville Police Department, an officer stopped a car around 1:40 a.m. Thursday morning on U.S. Route 61 near Bruner's Fuel Station.

When the officer asked the driver if there was anything illegal in the car, police said the driver admitted there was methamphetamine in the passenger side.

According to police, after a search, the officer found a complete methamphetamine lab and a methamphetamine pipe. The officer also found a small baggy containing a white power substance believed to be methamphetamine.

18-year-old Heather Johnson and 21-year-old Leanne Moore were both arrested. They're in the New Madrid County Jail. Formal charges against the women are pending.

    According to Carbondale police, a man wearing a light colored polo shirt and blue jeans used the personal information of an out-of-state victim to make purchases at Best Buy.
