Man killed, 18-year-old charged after wreck

SHARPE, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah man was killed in a crash near Sharpe in Marshall County Monday night.

Stephen J. Harper, 45, of Paducah was killed in the crash when a vehicle driven by Tiffany L. Pittman, 18, of Paducah hit his pick-up truck head on.

Pittman apparently lost control of her 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix as she was traveling west on US 68 near Pioneer Lane in Sharpe and veered into the eastbound lane hitting Harper's 1993 Chevy truck head on, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.

Pittman is charged with murder, operating a motor vehicle under the influence under 21, assault 1st degree, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seat belts and instructional permit violations.

Harper died at the scene.

Pittman and her passenger, Holly Hiett, were taken to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for treatment of injuries.

Police say Harper was wearing his seatbelt, but Pittman and Hiett were not.

US 68 was closed for about 2 ½ hours.

After being released from the emergency room Pittman was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
