Police come up empty handed in pond search for Jacque Waller

Law enforcement's search in a local pond for missing mother Jaque Waller turns up empty.

Jackson Police Chief James Humphreys says at this point it's back to the drawing board on where to search next.

Monday the diving team searched a pond off of Cape Rock Dr in Cape Girardeau.

Two divers started around 4 PM and set up a grid search method to search the almost 40 foot deep pond. A third diver walked the more shallow areas around the edge.

Humphreys says they've searched this area before, but looked on land, not in the water, until today.

"We weren't able to access this area with a boat," said Humphreys. "There's just no way to do it, so we got to get guys in the water to eliminate this particular body of water."

Humphreys says it's important to search these locations and if they don't find anything, cross then off their list, and move on the next spot.

Since searchers only found mud and tree roots, they will look into other tips and leads for the next place to search.
