Community rallies to help Scott City toddler with disorder

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

It was a busy night at the Pizza Inn in Sikeston Monday evening.

A large group of people showed up to take part in a fundraiser for 19-month-old Gavin Stash Zyduck.

Heartland News first profiled Gavin on January 1, 2010.  He was the first baby born in southeast Missouri that year.

Turns out he also has a rare disorder that one in 40,000 babies develop.  It's called 18q Deletion syndrome and Partial 6p Duplication.

He is having an operation on Thursday, Aug. 18.  It will be his sixth operation since he was first diagnosed.

Anyone interested in donating to help his family can send donations to 3046 State Highway E, Scott City, Missouri 63780.

There are also T-shirts that you can buy. The proceeds from the T-shirt sales go to help the 18q Deletion Syndrome and Partial 6p duplication foundation.
