Police charge two in marijuana bust in two different states

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Police have charged two people in connection to a drug bust in two states.

Richard Eugene Hensley, 48 of East Prairie, Missouri was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, and possession with the intent to distribute. Hensley was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center with a cash only bond of $150,000.

The Mississippi County case led Sheriff Keith Moore and Chief Deputy Charlie Marcum to further their investigation into the Wickliffe Kentucky area. They were working with Sheriff Todd Cooper and his department from Ballard County Kentucky.

Hensley maintained a residence in both states and with the assistance from Sheriff Moore and Chief Deputy Marcum a warrant from Ballard County was obtained which charged Hensley with 3 counts of cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, with a cash only bond of $150,000.

Police say Cynthia Ellis Haney, 39, the ex-wife of Hensley a former resident of East Prairie, Missouri received a grand jury indictment from Kentucky on August 08, 2011 with charges of cultivation of marijuana, and tampering with physical evidence.

Haney is also charged with possession of several firearms belonging to a Hensley who is a convicted felon.

Cynthia Ellis Haney was taken to the Ballard Detention Center in Paducah, Kentucky, with a bond set at $50,000.

Police say Cynthia Ellis-Haney has charges pending in Mississippi County as well.
