Free CHILD I.D. kits to be given out in Senath

SENATH, MO (KFVS) -

Free CHILD I.D. Kits will be given out in Senath on Saturday.

Three-year-old Breeann Rodriguez disappeared from her home in Senath on August 6.  Search crews found two training wheels.

Police say two training wheels recently found near Senath may have come from a bicycle Breeann Rodriguez was riding when she disappeared from outside her home on Saturday.

The CHILD I.D. kits will be available at the First Assembly Church gymnasium in Senath at 601 South State Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The kits use a clear inkless solution to produce the fingerprints without the messy black ink. The kits allow parents to collect and store a saliva sample for DNA.

Once the kit is completed, parents keep it at home.

Parents can carry a wallet card which has a spot for a fingerprint and a current photo of the child.

The information will not go into any law enforcement database. Hopefully, parents will never need to bring the completed kit to law enforcement.

Almost 800,000 children are reported missing every year in the United States, according to the FBI. Twenty-five percent of those reported missing are abducted by family members. Seven percent are abducted by non-family members.

Only .01 percent are victims of "stereotypical" kidnappings by a stranger or someone of slight acquaintance.

Visit www.fbi.gov for information on a new free FBI Child ID mobile app that allows parents to electronically store their children's pictures and information if their child goes missing.

FBI St. Louis Citizens' Academy Alumni Association is spearheading the effort to distribute the kits.
