New Corps supervisor tours Wappapello damage

WAPPAPELLO, MO (KFVS) -

The new boss in the Army Corps of Engineers' St. Louis office saw first-hand the damage his district will have to fix.

Colonel Chris Hall toured the damage done to the area around Wappapello Dam and Highway-T.

This is part of a fact-finding mission to decide what projects damaged this spring will be repaired first.

Colonel Hall credits the workers that were working during the flood for their work back in May.

"To this date, we've been out here and done all the damage assessments, said Col. Hall. "We are in the process of putting together a more comprehensive pack, as far as, what repairs are going to be required to get the project back up to speed."

Colonel Hall met with lake management to discuss the current condition of the lake.

He says a plan for repairs could be ready by the end of the year, but hall isn't sure where the money for the repairs will come from.
