3 Carbondale apt. buildings ruled not fit

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Building inspectors in Carbondale spent the day figuring out if a group of apartment buildings in that town are safe enough for people to live there.

Inspectors ruled that all or part of three Campus Habitat buildings aren't fit for people to live in.

The buildings were shut down mostly because of safety and fire codes.

See the actions taken by the city:

506 S. Graham - 23 apartments; Occupancy currently approved pending completion of ongoing inspections.

511 S. Graham - 28 apartments; Entire building posted as occupancy prohibited due to multiple safety and fire code violation. Building currently unoccupied.

504 S. Wall - 29 apartments; Occupancy currently approved pending completion of ongoing inspections.

508 S. Wall - 28 apartments; Entire building posted as occupancy prohibited due to multiple safety and fire code violation. Building currently unoccupied.

600 W. Freeman - 146 dorm rooms; 25 rooms to be posted with 14 day notice to vacate due to safety and fire code violations within those units

820 W. Freeman - 94 dorm rooms; Entire building posted 14 day notice to vacate due to multiple safety and fire code violations.

716 S. University - 58 dorm rooms; Building currently approved for occupancy
