MSHP: Broken axle caused gravel truck crash

MARSTON, MO (KFVS) - A dump truck pulling a dump trailer loaded with gravel jack-knifed, overturned and spilled gravel on the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near Marston Monday afternoon.

The drive axle broke causing the driver to lose control and overturn, according to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

It happened about 3:45 p.m. at mile marker 40 just south of Marston.

The southbound lanes of I-55 were shut down for some time.

Driver Christopher Young, 37, of Bragg City had minor injuries.

Passenger Melissa McDaniel, 20, of Bragg City was taken to Hayti Hospital with minor injuries.
