Crews battle 2-story house fire in Scott City

SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) - Crews battled a 2-story house fire in Scott City late Sunday morning.

It happened at 708 5th Street West just before 11 a.m.

According to Fire Chief Jay Cassout, he thinks the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic of the 2-story house.

There was a dog injured and resuscitated at the scene because it had trouble breathing. The dog was alive and taken to a local vet for treatment.

Firefighters went inside to block off the flames. The street was blocked off from Bell to Grand.

It's not known if anyone was home at the time of the fire.

They were still putting out hot-spots in the home late Sunday morning.
