ANNA, IL (KFVS) - Police and Fire crews made a mid-night run to the Anna Veterans Home early Sunday morning thanks to a strong storm.
Police officers say they received a call at 12:40 a.m. Sunday reporting lightning had struck the Anna Veterans Home.
When police and fire crews arrived, there was no fire. Officials determined that a lightning strike shorted out the facility's alarm system and phone. It also knocked out power to the building.
No one was injured, and no word on when power, security and phone service may be restored.
According to the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs website, the Anna facility provides skilled nursing care services to veterans. The Home has a 50-bed nursing care capacity and twelve beds in six adjoining apartment-style domiciliary units.
