PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah man is dead and a woman in custody after an early morning shooting at a home in the 2500 block of Tennessee Street on Thursday.

Betti A. Kern, 48, called police at 3:31 a.m. Thursday, saying she had just shot a man in her home.

David Griffin, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kern met officers outside and told them she had shot Griffin and that he was in the floor in the bathroom.

Officers found Griffin where Kern had told them. Mercy ambulance personnel responded, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kern told police that the victim and another man were at her home early Thursday morning when an argument erupted. She said she shot Griffin once in the back of the head, then called police.

Kern was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday in Louisville.

The coroner's office still has been unable to locate Griffin's next of kin. Anyone with information is asked to call the McCracken County Coroner's office at 270-444-4732.
