Geocaching program to be held at Wappapello Lake

WAPPAPELLO, MO (KFVS) - Visitors to Wappapello Lake can take part in the new trend of geocaching.

It's like treasure hunting but uses a GPS unit to locate a geocache site.

Each site has its own degree of difficulty in finding, but is a new fun hobby.

The Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center at Wappapello Lake will be hosting a "Geocaching Meet 'n Greet Event" on Saturday, August 13 at 9 a.m. This program will give visitors a hands-on experience, and will allow you to find several sites at Wappapello Lake.

The Visitor Center at Wappapello Lake also has other programs scheduled for August and September:

August 6- Fishing Simulator 2-4 p.m.
August 20- Duck Blind Drawing 1 p.m.
August 22- September 5- Cat Ranch Art Guild Art Show (during Visitor Center hours)
August 27- Shooting Simulator 2-4 p.m.
September 2-5- Labor Day 25 mile yard sale
September 3- Captain Seamoor's Puppet Show 2 p.m.

The Visitor Center hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
