2 dead in southwest Illinois motorcycle accident

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say two people are dead after their motorcycle hit a utility pole in the southwestern Illinois community of Collinsville.

The victims were identified as 25-year-old Brandon King of Collinsville and 21-year-old Kimura Halbrook of Granite City.

The crash occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn says King was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he lost control of bike. Halbrook was the passenger.

Both were thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner's office says toxicology tests will be conducted on both of the victims to see if drugs or alcohol were factors.
