CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

Two auxiliary Cairo firefighters accused of arson were back in court on Wednesday in Cairo. However, for the second time, family emergencies stalled the court proceedings.

Richard Scott Pitcher and David Patrick face 2 counts of arson each.

Due to a family member emergency for the prosecution, their preliminary hearings have been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 3 at 10 a.m.

Both Pitcher and Patrick were members of the Cairo Auxiliary Fire Department.

They are accused of setting fires in Cairo in January and April of 2011.

One fire was January 22 at a storage facility in Cairo adjacent to 33rd Street and the Mississippi River levee.

The other fire was April 16 off of Illinois 37.

James McWilliams, the training officer for the Cairo Auxiliary Fire Department, says both suspects started work for the auxiliary fire department around the same time at the beginning of 2011.
