Man accused of kidnapping woman

CHESTER, IL (KFVS) -

A Willisville man faces several charges after police say he kidnapped a woman and dropped her off at another town.

Steven J. Martin, of Willisville is charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint and aggravated battery.

Chester Police say they got a call about 12:39 a.m. on July 25 about a 20-year-old Chester woman who was abducted from the sidewalk in the 1400 block of State Street.

Police say Martin drove the woman to Murphysboro via Percy then released her.

Jackson County Sheriff's deputies found the woman about 2:45 a.m. in Murphysboro.  She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for medical attention.

Police found Martin at 4:48 p.m. later that day.  More charges are pending against Martin as police from Randolph, Perry and Jackson counties continue their investigations.
