Afternoon update: Post office closing in your area?

The U.S. Postal Service released of list of 3,700 retail offices across the country that could be shut down to save money due to decreased demand.  Dozens of offices across the Heartland are on the list.  Click here to see if an office near you is on the list.  Holly Brantley brings us reaction from some of the communities on the list.

Julia Bruck explores the cost of justice as Franklin County struggles to keep out of the red.  Michael Schallert is accused of killing two West Frankfort.  He went before a judge today.  A Franklin County jury recently found Schallert's former girlfriend, Afton Ferris guilty of killing two women.  The victims' families are not the only lives affected by this crime.  The taxpayers also feel the pain.  Julia outlines a cost that Franklin County taxpayers have not faced before.

A western Kentucky woman was killed in a single car crash last night in McCracken County.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the I-57 bridge over the Mississippi River will be closed for three days to north and southbound traffic starting Tuesday, August 16.

Arnold Wyrick will be in Johnston City, Illinois tonight at the city council meeting where city jobs could be on the line.
